The Lens Shift (The Invitation)
This is the tension explored in:
What If We’ve Had God Backwards?
Because maybe the issue isn’t God.
Maybe it’s the lens.
What if we’ve been seeing Him through:
- distance instead of union
- performance instead of identity
- fear instead of love
And what if the invitation has always been simpler than we made it?
Not: “Work your way toward God.”
But: “Live from the Love already within you.”
If that’s true…
Then the question isn’t: “Am I close enough?”
It becomes: “Am I ready to stop living like I’m not?”
Because most of us don’t question the lens.
We question ourselves.
We assume the tension we feel is something we need to fix.
So, we try harder.
Adjust more.
Push a little further.
Not realizing the issue may not be effort… but perspective. Because the lens you look through determines what you see. And what you see determines how you live.
If you see distance… you’ll live in pursuit.
If you see performance… you’ll live under pressure.
If you see fear… you’ll live guarded.
But if you begin to see clearly…
Everything starts to settle.
This isn’t about ignoring growth or pretending things don’t matter.
It’s about starting from the right place. Because when identity comes first, everything else begins to align.
Not forced.
Not manufactured.
But natural.
And maybe that’s the invitation.
Not to do more.
Not to strive harder.
But to see differently.
To question what you’ve assumed.
To reconsider what you’ve been taught.
And to ask yourself, honestly:
What if I’ve been living from a lens that was never meant to carry this much weight?
Because once the lens shifts… you don’t just think differently, you live differently.

You’re not becoming.
You’re remembering.
